Ridley Scott’s film, the Martian is an assessable science-fiction movie about an astronaut stranded on Mars. The film is loaded with anticipation, action and empathy. You cannot help but feel for Matt Damon’s character as he struggles to survive alone on the barren planet.
Even though the ending is predictable, I still found myself intrigued by the story and at PG-13, I feel that the movie is suitable for young audiences and easy-to-follow. Matt Damon is excellent in his role as the astronaut accidentally left behind by his crew and how he has to find a way to survive with his own wits.
Although considered science-fiction. It is deep down a drama with excellent performances from the cast. The Martian is one of Ridley Scott’s best of the year.
